A Rhinoceros commonly abbreviated to rhino, is a member of any of the five extant species in the family Rhinocerotidae. Two of the extant species are native to Africa, and three to South and Southeast Asia. Rhinoceroses are some of the largest remaining megafauna: all weigh over half a tonne in adulthood.
The illustration shows the mutualistic relationship between Oxpeckers and Rhinos. Oxpeckers are also known as “ASKARI WA KIFARI” means “Rhino’s Guard”, they eat ticks, flies, maggots, and other bot-fly larvae from the rhinoceros’ back. In this way the mammal’s parasite are under control while the birds are provided an easy meal. The Oxpeckers-Rhinos couples are well-known throughout the savanna’s region of Sub-Saharan Africa.
