In 2024, a collaboration between the Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1 (Lyon , France) and the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, (Richland, WA, USA), resulted in the publication of an article in the prestigious Nature Chemistry scientific journal, entitled “Tetrameric self-assembling of water-lean solvents enables carbamate anhydride-based CO2 capture chemistry”.
The research, guided by Julien Leclaire (University of Lyon 1) and David Heldebrant (Pacific Northwest National Laboratory), focused on the discovery of carbamic anhydride within self-assembled CO2 capture solvents.
This brought a new light on the CO2 capture mechanism of single-component water-lean solvents, which are promising materials for post-combustion CO2 capture.
